Connecting to GWU
Choose your terminal and dial in
Gundam Wing Universe is a text-based online game (MUD) running at gundam.vineyard.haus on port 9876. You connect using a Telnet or MUD client or even on a web browser. The experience is vastly better with a proper client that supports ANSI colour.
Recommended Client

Quick connect via terminal
$ telnet gundam.vineyard.haus 9876
or in Mudlet: New Profile → Host: gundam.vineyard.haus Port: 9876
  • 🔗Download Mudlet at mudlet.org — available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
  • 🎨Enable ANSI colour in your client. The game will ask you about colour and MSP (sound) support when you first log in.
  • 📟Raw telnet works for basic access but you'll miss colour, the GUI package, and quality-of-life triggers.

Creating Your Account
One account holds all your characters
GWU uses an account system. Before you create a character you create an account that acts as an umbrella for all your characters. Your account name is separate from your character name — pick something you're happy to log in with forever.

⚠️ You may only have one account. Multiple accounts are against the rules. Your new account starts with 1 character slot — this expands as you progress and use Gilla Tokens to add more slots.
Once your account is created you land at the Account Menu. From here you can:

Creating a Character
Name, sex, password — your pilot's identity
From the account menu type create to begin building a new character. Your character name is the name other players see in the game world — choose something that fits the Gundam Wing Universe setting.

💡 After selecting your sex you'll move into race selection to choose what kind of human your pilot is, followed by ability selection for your main and secondary class.
  • 📛Names referencing existing Gundam Wing characters are fine for the setting but check the roleplay rules — impersonating canon characters may be restricted.
  • 🔒Character passwords are separate from account passwords. Don't lose your character password — it's required to add the character to a different account later.
Step 04 of 07
Race Selection
Choose the lineage of your pilot
The Earth Sphere is home to several distinct human lineages, each shaped by biology, history, or evolution. Your race influences how your pilot interacts with the world and their natural strengths in combat and society.
Human
The standard, unmodified people of the Earth Sphere and colonies. They lack special abilities but possess balanced potential and excellent adaptability across all fields. Most comfortable in society, they form the backbone of every faction and excel through versatility and hard work.
Coordinator
Genetically engineered humans designed for physical and mental superiority. They possess enhanced strength, reflexes, learning speed, and near-immunity to disease. While powerful, they often face political tension and discrimination from Naturals.
Newtype
Naturally evolved humans with heightened spatial awareness and intuition. They excel at reading battles, synchronizing with mobile suits, and executing skills with remarkable precision. Their gifts come at the cost of mental strain and often drawing unwanted attention from military organizations.
Innovator
Humans who have evolved through advanced particle exposure. They feature improved healing, longevity, strong adaptability, and enhanced coordination abilities. Calm and forward-thinking, they thrive in sustained operations and complex team environments.
X-Rounder
Exceptional spatial awareness and tactical reaction capabilities. They are highly effective at defensive maneuvers, counter-attacks, and sensing battlefield flow. Their combat instincts make them formidable pilots, especially in chaotic or close-range engagements.
Race selection prompt
Please choose your race:
[Human ] [Coordinator] [Newtype ] [Innovator ] [X-Rounder ]
> newtype
💡 Your race is a permanent choice — it cannot be changed after creation. Consider how each race's strengths align with the ability class you plan to select in the next step.
Step 05 of 07
Main Ability Class
Your specialisation defines your playstyle
Your Main Ability determines your primary growth path and the skills you can train. You'll also pick a Secondary Ability right after — choose something complementary to round out your pilot.
Martial Arts
Elite attackers, great at using weapons.
Piloting
Expert in the cockpit of any ship.
Engineering
Fabricators of guns, armor and ships.
Bounty Hunting
Elite trackers, collector of contracts.
Smuggling
Sneaky, pickpocketers, and swindlers.
Leadership
Natural commanders and leaders.
Selecting main and secondary ability
Please choose a main ability from the following classes:
[Martial Arts ] [Piloting ] [Engineering ] [Bounty Hunting]
[Smuggling ] [Leadership ]
> martial arts
Now choose a secondary ability (must be different from your main):
> piloting
💡 Your secondary ability gives you access to a second skill tree alongside your main. You can't pick the same ability twice, and you can't select your main ability as the secondary.
💡 You will have access to the other abilities as well. All abilities have level caps and your primary is the highest cap and the secondary is the second highest, the rest cap at lower levels but still useable. You can increase these caps with the use of Gilla Tokens.
Step 06 of 07
Appearance & Stats
Roll your stats and define your pilot's look
After picking your abilities your stats are rolled automatically. You can reroll as many times as you like — type N at the "Are these stats OK?" prompt to roll again. Once happy, type Y and you'll move into choosing your character's physical appearance.
Stats roll example
STR: 62 KLG: 58 WIS: 45 BLK: 51 GAI: 47 RCV: 55
Are these stats OK? (Y/N)
> N
STR: 71 KLG: 64 WIS: 49 BLK: 60 GAI: 53 RCV: 58
Are these stats OK? (Y/N)
> Y

STRImproves your Attack Power
KLGImproves how quickly you Learn Skills
WISImproves how successful Skill Execution will be
BLKImproves your Defensive Ability

Then you'll select your physical appearance in order:
